Mentoring Programs
Get Involved
Big Friends (mentors) can be matched with Little Friends (mentees) in four different programs: community-based mentoring, school-based mentoring, Mentor Mom, and South Dakota Youth Hunting Adventures - James River chapter. By offering four different programs, Big Friends and Little Friends are able to select the program that best meets their personal goals.
Explanation of Programs
Community-Based
Children are matched with a mentor who will build a friendship with them while doing activities in the community.
School-Based
Children are matched with a mentor who will build a friendship in the school setting. They may work on homework, play games, have lunch together, or talk.
Mentor Mom
Young moms are matched with a mentor mom who will assist with learning essential parenting skills through observation, interaction, friendship, and role modeling.
SDYHA
Youth are matched with a mentor who will build a relationship through outdoor experiences and hunting wildlife.
